Chairman of the Parliament's Infrastructure Development Committee, Deepak Bahadur Singh, has said that the budget is biased and necessary initiatives will be taken to make a fair decision to save the energy sector. He said this at the 'Budget on Take and Pay PPA Arrangements and Impact on the Hydropower Sector' organized by the Nepal Infrastructure Journalists Society on Monday.
"The sector where domestic investors and more than 6 million ordinary Nepalis have invested will be raised in a way that benefits everyone," Singh said. MP Urmila Majhi said it was shameful that no one in the government that brought the budget was aware of Take and Pay. Another MP Bina Lama said that she would call the stakeholders to the Infrastructure Committee to discuss the issue and demand correction.
MP Nisha Dangi said that the Take and Pay policy brought by the government would fail, while Dinesh Kumar Yadav said that he was raising his voice in Parliament to withdraw it immediately. MPs Mahesh Basnet, Sushila Shrestha and Shiva Nepali also said that they would raise it effectively and work to correct it.
