Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Hitendradev Shakya has monitored the new Bharatpur 220 KV substation in Bharatpur. On Monday, Shakya's technical team including the Deputy Executive Director of the Authority's Broadcasting Directorate, Rajan Dhakal, monitored it.
Shakya instructed to solve the technical problem at the new Bharatpur substation as soon as possible to operate the Damauli-Bharatpur 132 KV line at full capacity and also made necessary technical consultations.
Damauli-Bharatpur 132 KV transmission line had a carrying capacity of 70 MW earlier. The conductors were changed to increase the capacity to about 130 MW. But due to technical complications in the new Bharatpur 220 KV substation, the line could not be put into operation at full capacity.
Private energy producers have been saying that the line will play an important role in easily connecting the electricity produced by the hydropower projects built in the Marsyangdi and Dordi corridors to the national transmission system. Therefore, executive director Shakya said that it is inevitable to operate the line according to the increased power carrying capacity after solving the technical problems.
The Hetaunda Grid Division has been instructed to complete the necessary work in the substation within a day or two. Dhakal, the spokesperson of the Authority, informed that all power houses and transmission lines will be operated at full capacity after resolving the problems seen in substations and transmission lines.
