Energy promoters have sent an SMS to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and Energy Minister Deepak Khadka and Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Hitendradev Shakya to withdraw the 'take and pay' (take and pay) provision in the power purchase agreement brought by the government in the budget.

As part of the program of the pre-announced movement, Prime Minister Oli, Minister of Finance, at 10 am on Saturday morning. Paudel, Energy Minister Khadka and Shakya, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, have been SMSed by energy entrepreneurs to withdraw 'Take and Pay'.

Saying that the arrangement of 'Take and Pay' PPA has been brought to stop private sector investment in energy, they mentioned in the SMS 'Abolish 'Take and Pay' PPA, which will end the private sector in energy, cause loadshedding, sink investors and destroy the country's economy.'

In the budget of the next fiscal year announced by the government on May 15th, the power purchase agreement (PPA) of the run-of-the-river (ROR) hydropower project to be built by the private sector will be done only according to the 'take and pay' concept.

Mohankumar Dangi, Acting President of Independent Energy Producers Association, Nepal (IPPAN) and Coordinator of IPPAAN Movement Committee, informed that an SMS was sent at once to pressure the government to withdraw 'Take and Pay'.

The protest committee led by Dangi met Prime Minister Olila on the first day of the protest and handed over a memorandum, and on the third day of the protest, at 11 am on the 8th of June, there is a program to put pressure on social media to remove the 'Take and Pay' PPA.
