Making the banking sector more robust, inclusive and transparent: Governor Paudel

Newly appointed Governor Vishwanath Paudel has expressed his commitment to make Nepal's banking sector more robust, inclusive and transparent. He said that he is committed to bring stability to the overall economy by making the banking sector effective.

In the reception of the new governor and the farewell program of the outgoing governor organized by the Nepal Bankers Association on Friday, Governor Paudel expressed the view that since the current policies and arrangements of the National Bank are effective, they will be continued without any change in any of them and will be improved only if necessary.

'In the coming days, I express my commitment to take the Nepali banking sector in the direction of stronger, inclusive and long-term development by creating a policy based on coordination and consultation with the banking sector,' he said.

"Economic stability after the pandemic is not only the achievement of Rashtra Bank, but the result of the cooperation and joint efforts of the entire banking sector," he said, "Although some decisions during my tenure were difficult, they were necessary for long-term reforms." The banking sector of Nepal should learn from the mistakes of the past and be careful not to repeat such mistakes in the future.

He has also expressed his commitment that he will always be ready to help the banking sector through his knowledge, experience and advice if needed in the future.
