Trade deficit increased: import of 14 trillion 74 billion, export of 2 trillion 17 billion in 10 months

In the 10 months of the current financial year, the country's trade deficit has reached 12 trillion 56 billion 28 billion rupees. According to the monthly report published by Nepal Rastra Bank on Tuesday, this amount is about 6.7 percent more than the same period of the last financial year.

In the ten months of the financial year 2081/82, the total export of goods increased by 72.7 percent and reached 2 trillion 17 billion 91 billion . During the same period of the previous year, there was a decrease in such exports by 3.6 percent.

According to the monthly report of the National Bank, exports to India, China and other countries have increased by 104.7 percent, 5.1 percent and 4.2 percent respectively. On the objective basis, the export of soybean oil, polyester yarn, tea, jute goods, pina etc. has increased, while the export of palm oil, zinc seat, ready-made clothes, juice, cardamom etc. has decreased .

In the ten months of the fiscal year 2081/82, the total import of goods increased by 13.1 percent and reached 14 trillion 74 billion 19 billion . During the same period of the previous year, there was a decrease of 2.4 percent in such imports.

Imports from India, China and other countries have increased by 7.9 percent, 15.1 percent and 28.3 percent respectively. According to the National Bank, the import of crude oil of soybeans, rice/paddy, edible oil, transport equipment, vehicles and spare parts, sponge iron, etc. has increased, while the import of petroleum products, gold, electrical equipment, chemical fertilizers, coal, etc. has decreased.

Exports from major ports other than Jaleshwar, Kanchanpur and Tatopani have increased . Regarding imports, there has been an increase in imports from all major ports including Bhairahawa, Biratnagar, Birganj, Sukkha Bandargah, Jaleshwar, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Krishnanagar, Mechi, Nepalgunj, Rasuwa, Tatopani and Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office.

In the ten months of the financial year 2081/82, the total merchandise trade deficit increased by 6.7 percent and reached 12 trillion 56 billion 28 billion . In the same period of the previous year, there was a decrease in such losses by 2.3 percent. During the review period, the export-import ratio reached 14.8 percent. In the same period of the previous year, this ratio was 9.7 percent.

During the review period, goods worth 1 trillion 52 billion 48 crores have been imported from India by paying convertible foreign currency. In the same period of the previous year, such import was equal to 1 trillion 22 billion 2 million .
