Churpi exports to third countries through the Birganj border have increased enthusiastically. Nepali Churpi has started taking the market in Europe and America in the last few years. The demand for Nepali Churpi has increased especially in America, Australia, Canada and other countries.

According to the data of Birgunj customs tenure, 4 lakh 95 thousand 686 kilos of Churpi worth 88 crore rupees have been exported from this point till Baisakh of the current financial year. During this period of the last financial year, 294,215 kilos worth 530 million were exported.

The demand for Nepali Churpi is increasing after domestic dogs and cats from third countries prefer the taste of Nepali Churpi. From the customs point, this item is exported under the heading 'dog or cat food'. If Nepali Churpi can be promoted in the international market with the increasing rate of export, it is more likely to get more market .

Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Amit Tiwari says that the export of Churpi through Birgunj checkpoint has increased comparatively this year . He said that dog and cat breeders are using Nepali Churpi as a substitute for meat.

He said that Nepali Churpi is increasing in demand in third countries as it is softer than the bones of four-footed animals and dogs and cats find it tasty. He said that Churpi produced in Nepal especially in Ilam, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Dhankuta and other districts are exported through this channel.

Since the Churpi industry is operating in Ilam, there is more production of Churpi. There is no customs duty when exporting Churpi . Tiwari said that only 113 rupees will be charged for each export notification.
