As the land for the under-construction Majhagaon airport has not been acquired, the work of paving has been started in half of it for the time being. For the airport, 1,525 meters of runway should be built, but now only 1,300 meters are being paved.
As the 225 meters of land under the Nepali Army assigned to protect the Shuklaphanta National Park is not available yet, the construction company is laying a black sheet on 1300 meters.
'We are hoping that the army will provide the land, and accordingly the agreement has been reached,' Meenraj Ojha, head of the Majhagaon airport project, said, 'We have sent a letter to the center with the consent of Ratna Vatika, the park administration and everyone else. He said that the goal is to complete the blackboard work within June. "The first layer will be completed within June, after the rest of the land is available, the second layer will be done with black paper," he said. "According to the agreement reached in the first week of February in the Ministry of Home Affairs, the army was supposed to release the land immediately, but it has not been implemented yet." But so far the agreement has not been implemented.
"The Army has not yet decided on the release of land," Ojha said, "Only after the decision of the Army will the work proceed in the rest of the area."
Ojha said that after the completion of the first phase of runway construction, the Civil Aviation Authority is preparing for the construction of the terminal building in the second phase. According to him, the authority has also allocated a budget for the terminal. According to him, requests have been made to the Far West Province Government and concerned local levels for budget allocation.
Majhagaon Airport is being built with the investment of local level, state government and federal government. According to which, 15 percent of Bhimdatta Municipality, 10 percent of Dodhara Chandni Municipality, 25 percent of Sudurpaschim Province Government and 50 percent of Federal Government will be invested.
In the first phase, a contract agreement was signed with Kancharam/KS/Uma & Company for 456 million 66 million in 078 with a period of three years. Last year on January 10, one year has been added after the expiry of that time .
The terminal building and other structures will also be built with the investment of the government at that level. Ojha said that now the design for the construction of the terminal building has been completed and once the budget is allocated, the costs will be estimated and the contract process will be taken forward.
