Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has claimed that rumors of load shedding are only on social media. Speaking at the meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee held on Wednesday, Minister Khadka said that the rumors in the market were spread for cheap popularity. He claimed that there will be no load shedding on any other pretext except for maintenance reasons.
He said that the situation of power cut from time to time has been seen not only today but also in the previous years . He claimed that electricity was cut off for about 700 hours due to various reasons in the last year alone.
Sometimes it was mentioned that there was a problem in electricity supply due to wind, sometimes big poles fell, sometimes due to human error . Minister Khadka made it clear that there is no loadshedding except for interruptions due to maintenance and it will not happen in the coming years.
He said, 'There has been some discussion in the market . We have imported electricity up to 1 thousand 5 megawatts this winter. According to the requirement, the domestic production was increasing and decreasing from 600 to 700 . Until today, we were importing 350 megawatts of electricity, while according to today's record, we have exported 150 megawatts of electricity. After reaching the electricity, it has been exported.'
He said that the rumor of loadshedding is just an illusion spread on social media . He said, 'Looking at last year's statistics, it seems that electricity was interrupted for various reasons for about 700 hours throughout the year . Sometimes there was a storm, sometimes a pole fell, sometimes an accident occurred due to people climbing on it, sometimes due to rain or hail, the electricity was interrupted . There is no loadshedding except for interruptions during maintenance. It is not seen that there will be more loadshedding in the coming year. Because production is increasing .'
Minister Khadka said that the country's future lies in the power sector.
