Plans for full electrification in Salyan stalled

According to the program of complete electrification, a year has passed since the poles were buried in different wards including Gadapani of Kapurkot Rural Municipality. But till now, except for some places, wire pulling and line extension work has not been done.

After complete electrification program in wards 1, 4 and 6 of Kumakh Rural Municipality, the construction company has buried poles in Tatke, Jimali, Ward Village, Swikot. But the wire has not been hung, in some villages even the pole has not been buried.

Even though the local residents have been asking for the electrification work to be done at a fast pace, the construction company has been ignoring it. Because of this, the locals are worried when they see that their desire to turn on the lights on time will not be fulfilled.

In 2080, the construction company Shakti Crystal JV Dolakha carried out the work of burying poles and pulling wires in Sharda, Bagchaur Municipality, Triveni, Kumakh, Kapurkot, Chhatreswari, Siddhakumakh and Darma Rural Municipality to light all the houses of 10 local levels in the district.

Although the work of burying the pole and pulling the wire has been carried forward by the construction company, the program has been stalled for almost a year. The electricity authority has said that the work of complete electrification of the district has been stalled due to failure to provide the necessary materials to the construction company on time.

Out of 54,000 households in the district, 69 percent of the houses are still lit and 23,000 are still out of reach of electricity. It allocated 10 million rupees for providing electricity facilities to those families as well. Although the contract was awarded in 2080, the work has not yet picked up speed. The responsibility of working here was given to Shakti Crystal JV Dolakha.  Due to the lack of electrification, even now, the residents of rural areas are forced to use Salle Jharko, Solar Tuki for lighting.

Shobhilal Basnet, Ward President of Kumakh Rural Municipality-4, said that although the construction company has done the work of burying poles under the complete electrification program in some wards of Kumakh Rural Municipality, the pole has not yet been buried in Tusare, Baun village of his ward.

'90 poles are needed for different settlements of Ward No. 4. Now the construction company has buried 22 poles towards Seti Danda. They have not shown any interest in bringing more poles and connecting them," he said. "We are trying to contact them again and again for more poles. But the contractor of the construction company is without contact.'

due to the construction company's extreme negligence, work  He said that it has been a year since the stoppage and due to this the local people are facing problems. Chairman of Kapurkot Rural Municipality, Durga Bahadur Pun, said that 3,000 poles had to be buried to fully electrify all the wards, but even though most of the poles were buried, the work of laying wires and connecting transmitters could not be done in many places. He says that 80 percent of the houses in the municipality have been provided with electricity and only 20 percent of the houses have yet to get electricity.

Similarly, even though it has been almost a year since 40 poles have arrived for some settlements of Sharada municipality-7, the construction company has not yet started the work. Ward president Lila Bahadur Roka said that no one from the construction company has come since the pole was removed. "After the pole falls, the locals have already wired the houses in the hope that they will be able to turn on the lights. But despite repeated requests, the work has not progressed,' said Roka, the ward president.

Out of the 23 thousand households yet to be electrified, 7 thousand poles were to be buried for about 21 thousand households in eight municipalities namely Sharda, Bagchaur Municipality, Kapurkot, Darma, Triveni, Kumakh, Chhatreswari, Siddhakumakh. So far, the construction company has buried only 5,100 poles.

Engineer Lil Darlami of contractor company Shakti Crystal JV Dolakha said that the construction work has been stopped for a few months because the government could not send construction materials as required. But he claimed that he did not agree that he was stranded. We are asking for materials. But the goods have not been received as per the demand,' he said.
