The Office of the Auditor General has brought to the attention of the Foreign Employment Department that the service fees charged by private service providers who provide services online to workers who come to obtain work permits for foreign employment should be made uniform.
After the department made it mandatory to issue the labor permit through online, the workers who are coming to get the labor permit again have been resorting to private service providers to apply online. The service charges charged by those service providers are not uniform.
In the last financial year alone, at least 20,615 women, including 281,000 people, had received work permits again through private sector service providers . Apart from that, 95,000 people who went personally for the first time also received work permits through private sector service providers.
"After the department launched the online service, it was found that there were complaints that the service providers who were open for online form filling outside the office charged a fee and submitted applications without the necessary documents, etc.," the 62nd annual report of the General Account said, "The system should be organized so that online service fees should be uniform, service providers must be registered for legal recognition, service fees cannot be charged more than specified and applications can be made with the necessary documents.
