The monthly report of the Financial Intelligence Unit has shown that financial crime transactions and activities are increasing in Nepal.

According to the monthly report issued by the unit, the number of suspicious transactions and activity reports sent by the reporting organization to the unit according to the Money Laundering (Money Laundering) Prevention Act, 2064 was 6,255 in the year 2023. In 2024, that number has increased by about 49 percent and reached 9,304. Out of the reports received by

, in 2024, the unit analyzed 1 thousand 894 reports, out of which 1 thousand 86 reports were sent to the law enforcement/investigative body for further investigation and to the regulatory body for regulatory action . The statement also mentions that 808 of them have been archived by the reporting unit to be re-analyzed if more information is received in the future.

In the same way, the index organization has submitted details of 17 lakh 83 thousand 183 border transactions to the unit in 2023, and the number has increased to 19 lakh 72 thousand 855 in 2024.

The total number of indicator organizations, law enforcement/investigative agencies and regulatory agencies affiliated to the unit's GoAML system for reporting and correspondence related to prevention of money laundering and prevention of financial investment in terrorist activities was 1,496 at the end of 2023. At the end of 2024, that number has increased to 1,905. The report published by the
