The NEPSE index, which measures stock trading, fell by 14.87 points on Tuesday. NEPSE decreased by 0.56 percent to 2,634.23 points. The NEPSE index fell for the third consecutive trading day. NEPSE decreased by 12.04 points last Thursday and 12.53 points on Sunday.
On Tuesday, the share price of 77 companies increased while 168 companies decreased. A company's value remained stable. A total of 1 lakh 2 thousand 445 shares have been traded for 9 billion 63 crore 48 lakh rupees. 2 crore 18 lakh 28 thousand 231 shares were bought and sold. All sub-groups declined except development banks, life insurance, manufacturing and processing. Development Bank increased by 47.34 points, life insurance by 127.38 points, and manufacturing and processing by 24.84 points. Among the declining subgroups were hotels and tourism, microfinance, non-life insurance and trade.
Share prices of Crest Micro Life Insurance and Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals took a circuit break by 10 percent. Shares of Joshi Hydropower Development Company, Unnati Sanjakar Laguvitta rose by 5.44 per cent and Lumbini Bikas Bank by 4.22 per cent. Nepal Micro Insurance Company's share price decreased by 6.22%, Butwal Power Company's 4.31%, Sikless Hydropower's 4.27%, Himalaya Energy Development Company's 4% and Rapti Hydro & General Construction's 3.99%.
There has been a contraction in the size of the stock market (total market capitalization). Total market capitalization has decreased by 65.62 billion in three trading days. The total market capitalization, which was 44 trillion 47 billion 57 billion rupees last Wednesday, has remained at 43 trillion 81 billion 94 billion rupees on Tuesday. This shows that the value of investors' property has decreased by 65 billion rupees in three trading days. Total market capitalization is calculated by multiplying the total listed shares by the share price on the same day. A decrease in capitalization therefore means a decrease in the value of the listed shares. It is on this basis that the value of the investor's property is analyzed as diminished.
