Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is going to enter into Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for hydropower projects with a capacity of more than 10 megawatts. The NEA has issued a public notice inviting hydropower projects that have completed grid connection agreements by 081 Chaitra 12 to come and enter into PPA.
The NEA has issued a notice for PPA for 1858.919 MW run-of-river (ROR) and 3107.434 MW semi-reservoir (PROR) hydropower projects.
The decision to open the PPA was taken in the 994th meeting of the NEA Board of Directors held immediately after the appointment of Hitendradev Shakya as the NEA's Executive Director. According to the Energy Development Roadmap, 2081, the target of increasing Nepal's total installed capacity to 28,500 MW by 2035 has been set. To achieve the same target, the Board of Directors meeting held on Chaitra 12 had decided to proceed with the PPA process for various types of hydropower projects with a capacity of more than 10 MW for which grid connection agreements have been completed.
