Fluctuations in the price of gold resulted in low turnover during the season

During the season, the trade in gold jewelery has declined. Businessmen have said that the sale of jewelry has decreased due to a large fluctuation in prices. Baisakh, Jeth, Asar, Mansir, Magh and Fagun are the months of celebration for jewellers. As many weddings take place during these months, jewelry trade is high.

According to the data of the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation, more than 45 kg of gold jewelery is sold daily. However, businessmen have said that the business of gold jewelry has decreased in these months.

According to Tejaratna Shakya, the former president of the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation, most gold is sold in February. Then are the months of Baisakh and Magha. In February, more than 50 kg of gold was sold daily. After that, 45 kg more gold ornaments were sold daily in Baisakh and Magh,'' Shakya said, 'but this year the market situation was different. Even though there was a lot of Lagan in Baisakh, gold jewelery was not sold.'

In the past, there was a crowd of people in jewelery shops during Lagan. But this time the jewelery shop remained deserted. Businessmen say that some of the jewelry shops have come to sell old jewelry even though there is a normal crowd. Shakya said that he added a little to the old jewelry as it was not for the wedding. Businessmen say that the only reason for this is the large fluctuations in the price of gold.

Recently, the gold market has been greatly affected by the upheaval in the international market. Due to the economic and political upheaval, the price of gold has been setting new records recently. Due to the increase in investment in gold, which is considered as a safe investment, there was a record break in the local market along with the international market.

In February, more than 50 kg of gold was sold daily, then 45 kg of gold jewelry was sold daily in Baisakh and Magh, this year the market situation was different, although there was a lot of enthusiasm in Baisakh, gold jewelry was not sold: Tejratna Shakya, former president of Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation

According to the federation, on May 9, the price of gold per ounce in the international market reached 3 thousand 5 hundred 9 US dollars. When the federation set the price, it was $3,486 per ounce. On that day, per tola was fixed at 1 lakh 97 thousand 900 rupees in the Nepalese market. After that, the price went down and on May 30, it was fixed at 32337.40 dollars per ounce in the international market. In the Nepali market, per tola has dropped to 1 lakh 84 thousand 800 rupees.

The price of gold has decreased continuously in the last week. Even though the situation in the international market has improved, there is still confusion," said the Federation's Senior Vice President Diysaratna Shakya, "There is also pressure to sell gold in the international market, that's why the price seems to have decreased. But it was not sold even in the local market.' According to him, small and medium investors are selling gold for profit. That is why the price has decreased.

According to Senior Vice President Shakya, the investment environment has improved due to the reduction of trade tensions between America and China, the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the end of the war between Pakistan and India.

'Invest in gold for safe investment, there has been an improvement at the international level recently. For that reason, it seems that money has been withdrawn from gold and invested in dollars and shares," he said. All this confusion did not sell gold even during the season.'  According to

federation, after US President Donald Trump increased the customs duties for various countries, the atmosphere at the international level deteriorated. Because of this, investors increased their gold reserves. That is why the price of gold went up.

'Last July, the price of gold was 1 lakh 44 thousand 700 rupees per tola. On May 9, the price increased to Rs 1 lakh 97 thousand 900. Now it has decreased again to 184 thousand 800 rupees," Shakya, the former president of the federation, said, "The price is unstable. There is no way to tell where the market will go. He believes that the US dollar is also going down, which has caused more instability in the market.

According to the federation, the price of gold has decreased by 7 thousand 400 rupees in the last 5 days. On Baisakh 25, the price of gold per tola was Rs 1 lakh 92 thousand 200. On Baisakh 30, the federation has fixed Rs 1 lakh 84 thousand 800 per tola. But common people do not get jewelry at that price. In jewelry, businessmen add 12 to 18 percent more in the name of wages and taxes.
