Jhakprasad Acharya, Consul General of the Nepali Consulate General in Kolkata, said that the Kolkata Consulate General will play its best role for business facilitation, promotion and upgrading of the tourism sector within its jurisdiction.

He said this while addressing a discussion and interaction program on the current problems and future directions of action in the field related to international trade and transportation from Haldia and Kolkata to Birgunj organized by the Nepali Consulate General Kolkata and Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday in Birgunj. 

Acharya said that the Consulate General is always ready to solve the problems faced by Nepali industrialists/businessmen at Kolkata and Haldia ports during import and export. In the program, Acharya also gave detailed information to the beneficiaries about the work area of ​​Nepali Consulate General Kolkata, the services provided by the embassy. He made it clear that some of the problems for business facilitation, promotion and upgrading of the tourism sector within the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Consulate General have to be solved in coordination with the Indian high-ranking officials, so the solution is delayed.

Deepak Lamichhane, Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Office, said that practical problems and policy problems encountered in the field of import and export will be identified and solutions will be sought. For this, he said that the program will be helpful in solving the practical difficulties connected with Kolkata and Haldia ports as well as the integrated security check post at Birganj and the Sirsia dry port through joint cooperation. Madhav Rajpal, Acting President of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that import and export play an important role in balancing the country's supply system. In this process, while reducing the cost of imports, the cost of imported goods in Nepal should be reduced and made competitive. He alleged that he was collecting money from the importer. He was of the opinion that the cost of imported goods in Nepal is increasing and such duties should be reduced. 

Rajpal said shipping companies are collecting money from Nepali importers in the name of container delay fee, container maintenance fee etc. and thus, when they are charging double amount for the same nature of work, the cost of the imported goods is also increasing. As there is no fixed way to send the amount due to the shipping company, the importer is facing unnecessary hardship. had done. 

Federation of Nepalese Industry and Commerce Madhesh Pradesh President Ashok Kumar Temani emphasized the need for coordination between the Nepali Consulate General in Kolkata, Integrated Security Checkpoint, Dry Port Customs Office, Birganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Commerce and Industry in the border areas to solve the difficulties encountered during import and export.
