There has been a discussion between the Nepal Electricity Authority and industrialists regarding the power cuts in the industrial sector. On Sunday, Dirghayukumar Shrestha, Deputy Executive Director of Distribution and Customer Service Directorate of the Authority, discussed with the representatives of Federation of Nepal Industry and Commerce and Confederation of Nepal Industry.

The industrialists said that there was a discussion about the current state of electricity supply and the need to cut power to industrial customers for some time.

Due to the increasing demand for electricity in India, the authority said that even when the authority tried to purchase electricity at the maximum price, it could not provide electricity as per the demand of the industrialists.

Shrestha said that the flow in the river channels of Nepal is increasing and once the power supply from India becomes easy, the problem of power management will be solved.

The authority has stated that it is committed to supply quality, reliable and continuous electricity by giving priority to industrialists.

Hemraj Dhakal, vice president of the Federation of Industries and Commerce, said that an environment of trust has been created between the authority and businessmen and it will be easier for cooperation in the future.

Dhakal said that the authority should work not only in hydro but also in the field of alternative energy including solar. Confederation representative Ghanshyam Ojha said that the current problem will be solved by the initiative of the authority. He said that the authority should emphasize on the quality of electricity supplied.
