Bhatbhateni Supermarket and Bigmart are not allowed to put labels on the goods imported from importers. According to the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection, they can sell and distribute imported goods only by purchasing them from the importer.
Bhatbhateni and Bigmart are allowed to put labels only on the products produced by them. Director General of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection Department, Kumar Prasad Dahal, gave this instruction in a separate meeting with representatives of Bhatbhateni Supermarket and Bigmart last Friday.
'Bhatbhateni Supermarket and Bigmart will label the products produced by the company only, but arrange the sale and distribution of the products imported from other importers only by purchasing the labeled products from the importer,' said the statement issued by the department on Sunday.
The representatives of Bhatbhateni Supermarket and Bigmart have committed to comply with the directives from Friday that only items with the importer's label will enter the stores.
'It is well-known that there is a legal provision in Nepali or English language to be understood by the general public in accordance with the spirit and spirit of the consumer's rights in Article 44 of the Constitution of Nepal and in accordance with subsection 3 of Section 6 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.
