India's Electricity Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said that there is immense potential in Nepal's hydropower sector and prosperity can be achieved through the energy sector. He emphasized that if the 900 MW Arun 3rd hydropower project is completed on time, it will benefit both the countries, so the construction should be expedited. He also said that the Indian government is ready to invest in Nepal's hydropower sector.

Minister Khattar, who came on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Energy Minister Deepak Khadka, inspected the site of the Arun 3rd hydropower project under construction in Sankhuwasabha. The power house and dam area of the project being constructed with Indian investment was inspected.

On the same occasion, both the ministers jointly inaugurated the 'Unit-2' of the project. During the

inspection, they got information from the contractor company about the progress of the project so far and the problems encountered during the construction process.

Energy Minister Khadka expressed gratitude for India's support in the development of Nepal's energy sector and instructed to complete the project on time. He informed that the Arun 3rd hydropower project is an important project of the country and the government has given it top priority. He also expressed the commitment of the government not to allow any shortage for the project.

Arun is the third 900 MW project under construction on the border of Sankhuwasabha's Makalu and Chichila Rural Municipality. The then Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly laid the foundation stone in May 2075 with the goal of completing the construction within five years. This project, which will be built at a cost of around one trillion four billion rupees, is being built by the Indian Sutlej Hydropower Company.

After the observation visit, the two ministers have returned to the capital via the helicopter of the Nepalese army.
