Koshi State Government is organizing 'Koshi Investment Conference 2082' in Biratnagar on 18th and 19th of Baisakh. 54 projects with a potential investment worth 1 trillion 39 billion 30 million 52 million will be put on the agenda in the state-level conference that will be held for the first time.
The conference was organized with the objective of capital formation, job creation and poverty alleviation through the establishment of industries by identifying potential areas, said Pawan Kumar Timilsena, secretariat coordinator of the conference and secretary of the state government.
Earlier, preparations were made to hold the conference on January 11-13, but it was postponed due to lack of time and disagreements with the private sector. Now, with the cooperation with the private sector, preparations for the conference have been accelerated.
Saroj Koirala, the Chief Executive of the Provincial Investment Authority, said that most of the investments will be concentrated in the industrial sector. He said that 9 projects worth 65 billion 40 million will be presented in the industry sector. The biggest project is Udaipur Clinker Project in Udaipur costing 32 billion. After that, the 26 billion green hydrogen and chemical fertilizer project covering Sunsari and Udaipur will also be held as a main attraction in the conference.
15 projects for the tourism sector will be put up for auction, with a total cost of 35 billion 975 million. The biggest project among them is Taplejung-Ilam pod-way project costing 25 billion. For the infrastructure sector, 14 projects will be introduced, the estimated cost of which is 31 billion 1 crore. There are 9 projects worth 3.8 billion in the agricultural sector and 2 projects worth 2.77 billion in the energy sector. Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki said that preparations for the
conference have been accelerated. He said that there is a possibility that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inaugurate the conference. "This is not just a conference of the government, it is a joint campaign of the Koshi province," he said, "a conference has been planned for the long-term capital building of the province." Chief Minister Karki said that the projects to be presented in the conference include projects in the industry and tourism sectors.
