The agricultural ministerial level meeting of the BIMSTEC countries has agreed to establish food storage at the regional level. The meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has agreed to promote regional agricultural trade.
The meeting also agreed to establish seed storage at the regional level, said Matina Joshi Vaidya, spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Similarly, they have also agreed to take special initiatives for capacity development in the agricultural sector of the member states. Ministers of India and Bhutan were physically present in the meeting.
Ministers from Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka participated through virtual means. At the meeting, BIMSTEC approved a new action plan for cooperation in the livestock and fisheries sector.
