Indian lab accreditation for 9 items to be exported

Have you faced obstacles while exporting ginger, pickles, juice, vegetables etc. to India? No need to worry anymore. Goods will no longer be stuck at the customs checkpoint due to certificate disputes. There is no need to reach Kolkata, Delhi and Lucknow to stop the exported goods at customs and conduct lab tests.

According to the Food Technology and Quality Control Department, this facility has been provided with the recognition of 9 items to be exported to India by the Indian Lab. India has recognized the certificate issued after testing at the 'Nepal National Food and Feed Reference Laboratory' under the department.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) have mutually accredited food labs. Sanjiv Kumar Karn, director general of the department, said that after India's recognition, the complicated process at customs during export will be over.

'The recognition given by India is a great achievement. The circular has been published in the gazette on April 4,' Karna said, 'now the hassles in exports will end. It used to take up to a month to go to Kolkata, Delhi, Lucknow and get the lab tested, the cost would increase. Now there is no stopping at the customs.'

If India has doubts, it can test. Exports of juices, ginger, vegetables and instant noodles are encouraging among India's recognized commodities. According to Mohan Maharjan, spokesperson of the department, there will be more ease in exports now. India also recognized some items in 2019 with conditions. Now the certificate of 9 items is recognized.

now has 630 of the 284 parameters that are tested. Based on the application given by the department, the audit was conducted by the Indian Food Safety Authority team. According to Maharjan, 9 items are recognized on the same basis.
