The opening of small and domestic industries in Bagmati province is continuously decreasing. Due to economic recession and lack of investment-friendly environment, the opening of new industries has been decreasing in the last three years.

According to the data of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Land and Administration of Bagmati Province, 6 thousand 543 domestic and small industries were registered in the last financial year 2080/81. However, by the end of February of the current fiscal year 2081/82, only 4,255 new household and small industries were registered by the ministry.

According to Choulakanta Wagle, the officer of the industry branch of the ministry, there has been a slight decrease in the number of new industries registered in the current year compared to the previous year. He said that 132 new household and small industries were registered in Sindhuli district till the end of February of the current financial year 2081/82.

61 domestic and small industries have been registered in Ramechhap district, 181 in Dolakha and 40 in Sindhupalchowk. 370 small industries have been registered in Kavre district, 1 thousand 124 in Bhaktapur district and 357 in Lalitpur.

Among the districts where household and small industries are registered, Kathmandu district has the highest number of 1,253, while Rasuwa district has the least number of registrations, only 31.

100 in Nuwakot, 94 in Dhading, 213 in Chitwan and 296 in Makwanpur district are registered in the offices of industry and commerce under the Ministry of Domestic and Small Industries, while 3 are registered in the Directorate of Industry, Industry Branch Officer Wagle informed.

'Industrialists are not able to take necessary loans for new industry operations. As a result, there was a direct impact on the registration of new small and domestic industries," he said. According to him, many industries have not been added due to the lack of relaxation and investment-friendly environment in the economy of the entire country.

Under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Land and Administration of Bagmati Province, there are 42,450 industries in production, 809 in agriculture and forestry, 6 in energy and 75 in construction.

Similarly, there are 211 industries related to tourism, 24 related to information, broadcasting and communication technology, 1144 related to services and 12 related to minerals, according to the ministry. Industry Branch Officer Chaulakanta Wagle informed that these industries directly employ around one and a half lakh people.
