Hotels and resorts in the Bhotekoshi and Sunkoshi corridor areas have started getting packed with tourists. Soon after the start of summer, the Sukute area of the Sunkoshi River, which is known for the adventure sport 'Adventure Rafting', has started to see a rush of tourists.
Mahendrasin Thapa, president of Sindhu Sukute Tourism Business Association, said that since the number of tourists coming for 'rafting' has doubled now, all the resorts here are busy. "Every day more than 400 internal and external tourists have started coming for rafting, all the resort-hotels are welcome," he said.
As the adventure rafting season has started recently after the winter, the number of tourists is expected to increase day by day. Thapa says that at least 50 domestic and 20 foreign tourists come to a resort every day, lured by 'rafting'. Up to two thousand tourists have entered Sindhupalchowk every week to enjoy rafting and cannoning adventure.
Tourists coming from Kathmandu from Europe, America and other countries used to reach here for rafting in Sunkoshi. Apart from mountain bike riding, bungee jumping, which is considered as an adventure sport, is targeted by tourists. "On Fridays and Saturdays, the resorts here are completely full, so tourists come by booking in advance," said Lalit Giri, a tourism businessman at Sukute River Fun Resort.
