Listed health organizations that have the right to examine the health of workers going for foreign employment have decided to go to the digitization system by building a new standard lab within the specified time frame.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security had issued a notice on March 15th that it had decided to digitize the practice of issuing fake medical certificates to 100%. 

Nepal Health Practitioners Federation, Nepal Medical Practitioners Association and GAMCA Nepal's joint meeting have committed to install the additional necessary health equipment within the time limit set by the Ministry of Labour. The Ministry has said that after the monitoring, only those health institutions that have passed will be implemented the digitization system.

"According to the Sixth Amendment of 2072 (2081) regarding the registration, renewal and monitoring of health institutions that examine the health of workers going to foreign employment, health materials will have to be added to expand the scope of health examinations. Now, 34 types of tests including special test (HVAC) with thyroid, kidney and sugar of workers going for foreign employment will have to be done.

Previously, only general testing of workers was being done. Its fee is determined according to the government rate. According to the Ministry of Labor, the package fee of these tests cannot be more than 9,500 rupees.

"We welcome the work done by the Ministry of Labor to make the health examination of workers going for foreign employment more qualitative and dignified and to add the necessary infrastructure and equipment and to maintain the adjusted fees to improve the quality of health institutions," said a joint letter submitted to Labor Minister Sharatsingh Bhandari on Wednesday.

A five-member sub-committee has been formed under the coordination of Dhanawahadur Giri of the Nepal Health Business Federation to assist the health expert committee of the Ministry of Labor to connect the infrastructure specified by the joint meeting. which  Co-ordinator Krishna Prasad Bajgai of Nepal Medical Professionals Association, members respectively Mohan Choulagai of Gamka Nepal, Pankaj Kumar Jha of Nepal Medical Professionals Association, Rampukar Tiwari of Nepal Health Professionals Federation and advisor Dr. Parshuram Ghimire is .

Businessmen have requested the Ministry of Labor to represent businessmen in the monitoring committee to be formed by the ministry. Labor Minister Bhandari said that new standards have been implemented to organize the health examination system of workers.

Digitalization is going to be done to ensure the quality health examination of the workers. This system will be completely transparent and dignified," he said, "now there will be no need to make a medical fit report by pasting photos as before.
