Chairman Sharad Ojha has said that Nepal Insurance Authority will help in the preparation of insurance articles for insuring raw houses. In an insurance-related interaction and discussion program organized by the Nepal Insurance Authority at Dhangadhi in Kailali, President Ojha said that the authority will act keeping in mind both the interests of the insured and the financial condition of the insurer.
President Ojha mentioned that agricultural insurance should be emphasized by giving general information about the agricultural insurance subsidy through the municipality and ward structures, and said that the authority would assist in creating insurance documents for insuring raw houses. In the
program, chief guest Kamal Bahadur Shah, Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, informed that the province is ready to prepare insurance laws and policies for the development and expansion of insurance in the province. He asked the Nepal Insurance Authority to assist in this process.
Chief Minister Shah had mentioned that he was insuring women self-employed workers and was willing to take out disaster insurance . He pointed out the need to simplify the claim process to reduce hassles in payment of insurance claims.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Far West Province, Hira Sarki, expressed commitment to connect common citizens with insurance, make subsidies more effective and move forward by connecting insurance and disasters.
Sushil Dev Subedi, executive director of Nepal Insurance Authority, gave a presentation on the introduction of insurance, the state of the insurance sector, existing challenges and the role of the provincial government in expanding access to insurance. The participants in the
program expressed their opinion that insurance companies should only provide insurance based on their ability to pay insurance premiums, the authority should take necessary steps to move forward by connecting the state's overall components with insurance, the monitoring of insurance companies should be made more effective, the authority should facilitate more to speed up claim payment and encourage agriculture insurance, etc. Social Development Minister of Far West Province Meghraj Khadka, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Prakash Bahadur Bam and Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure Development Nirmala Devi Saud, Chief Secretary to the Provincial Government Kamal Prasad Pokhrel, Secretaries of various Provincial Ministries, Chief Attorneys, Chiefs and Chairpersons of Municipalities and Villages and Heads of Provincial Offices of Insurers participated in the
program.
