The country's private sector has entered into agreements with various private sectors in Thailand to promote tourism, trade and investment. In the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Prime Minister of Thailand Pei Thong Than Shinawatra, Confederation of Nepal Industry, Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Nepal Chamber of Commerce signed an agreement with various private sectors of Thailand.
An agreement has been reached between the Federation and the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand to enhance mutual cooperation and trade. The MoU was signed by Federation President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Thai Trade President Sanan Angubolkul. It is said that the agreement aims to strengthen trade relations between Nepal and Thailand, promote economic cooperation and prepare a structured framework for trade and investment expansion.
The federation has said that it is believed to further strengthen the business cooperation between the two countries and make an important contribution to expand the economic cooperation. Both parties are committed to promoting trade, facilitating joint ventures, exchanging business information and supporting industrial cooperation. The MoU includes encouraging participation in trade fairs, professional forums and special economic events.
After the signing of the MoU, Federation President Dhakal responded that more doors for investment and trade expansion have opened between Nepal and Thailand. President of Thai Trade Sanan Angubolkul said that Thai businessmen are willing to invest and expand trade with Nepal. The Federation says that this memorandum of understanding, made through the Bay of Bengal multi-sectoral technical and economic cooperation initiative BIMSTEC, will be applicable for three years. A memorandum of understanding on investment promotion and cooperation was also signed between the
Confederation and the Federation of Thai Industries. The memorandum of understanding between the private sector of the two countries for the promotion of investment, expansion of economic and commercial relations was signed by the president of the confederation, Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, and the president of the federation, Kriengrai Thennukul.
Along with investment and trade promotion, there is an agreement between the two organizations to collaborate on economic and trade related studies, research, training and capacity development, information exchange on legal and policy matters,'' the press release issued by the federation states. "As Nepal is a suitable destination for foreign investors, this agreement will help bring in investment from Thailand," said Agarwal, president of the confederation. "The government has made legal reforms for investment promotion, from which investors can benefit," he said.
Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Council of Thailand have also reached an agreement for cooperation in the field of business, tourism and civil aviation. The MoU was signed by Chamber President Kamlesh Kumar Aggarwal and Tourism Council of Thailand President Chai Arunanondichai. It is mentioned in the statement issued by the chamber that there is an understanding between the two countries to cooperate for tourism promotion, civil aviation and cultural promotion in various areas of Nepal.
An agreement has been reached to identify and promote the tourist areas of Nepal and Thailand jointly for market promotion campaign, joint cooperation in the field of civil aviation, exchange of heritage and culture, trade and investment promotion and capacity building. It is mentioned in the statement issued by the chamber that there was also agreement on the formation of a joint task force for this. President Agarwal said that the agreement is important to increase tourism activities in Nepal's Pokhara and Bhairahawa International Airports.
An agreement has also been signed between Janata Agro and Forestry of Nepal and Kasestart University, a leading educational institution in Thailand. Collaboration has been done on increasing food production in Nepal through biological technology. The agreement was signed by Krit Won-Inal, Vice President of Casestart University and Pawan Golyan, President of Janata Agro and Forestry.
Sustainable development of Nepali agricultural sector, new agricultural methods and improvement of the standard of living of Nepali farmers have been set. Janata Agro has collaborated in the areas of organic farming in Nepal including latest modern technologies, new strategies to care for advanced varieties of plants, new methods of harvesting, increasing production and quality.
