The Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chetnarayan Acharya, has said that the province will not be able to achieve the goal of prosperity unless cooperatives are involved in production.
On the occasion of the 68th National Cooperative Day, Chief Minister Acharya, while addressing the awarding program to the best cooperative organizations of Lumbini Province in Deukhuri on Wednesday, said that cooperative organizations must be connected to increase the local production .
``The cooperatives are built with the goals and objectives . As should have been associated with the product . I have seen that it is not connected like that,'' he said, ``local production can be increased through cooperatives. Farmers' produce can be delivered to the market. Income can be increased . The standard of living of the farmers can be raised.
He said that the cornerstone of socialism is cooperatives and the state government is working on the cooperative sector as a priority. Acharya said that in recent times, problems have arisen when the cooperatives go beyond their goals and objectives and the government is working to bring them back on track.
``There is a situation where people are pointing fingers at cooperatives that have done very well because of cooperatives that have been opened on purpose.''
Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives Minister Dinesh Panthi presided over the program and awarded the best four cooperative organizations in various fields.
