Australia will give $34 million in aid to Nepal

The Australian government has announced that it will support Nepal with about 34 million dollars in this financial year. This financial support, which was announced in the public budget a few days ago, is about 1 million dollars less than last year.

Australia has been providing foreign aid to developing countries under various headings every year. In the budget announced four days ago by Treasurer Jim Charlemagne, it is mentioned that Nepal will be given two levels of aid. 

Nepal will be provided assistance of 9.1 million dollars under bilateral allocation and 25.4 million dollars under development program in this fiscal year. Last year, 26.1 million dollars were given under this title, this amount has been reduced this year. 

Australia had supported Nepal with a total of 35.6 million dollars in the last fiscal year. Australia has been giving aid to Nepal by considering three different priorities. 

According to the data available at the foreign department here, assistance has been given by prioritizing health security, stability and economic progress and development. Stating that Australia and Nepal have more than 60 years of bilateral relations, it is said that they are ready to support Nepal's development, emergency preparedness and support local and vulnerable communities.

 The support provided by Australia will be focused on personal protective equipment for health workers, covid vaccine, women's health, pure drinking water and health and hygiene . Also, the focus will be on creating sustainable policy rules, effective service delivery and good governance.

It is mentioned that Australia is also working in the field of long-term economic development of Nepal through various other organizations. For a long time, Australia has been providing financial support to South Asian countries including Nepal every year. 

Among the aid announced in this financial year, there has been some increase in the aid given to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan in the South Asian countries . It is mentioned in the budget that Bangladesh will receive the highest amount of 141 million dollars, Afghanistan will receive 100 million dollars and the lowest amount will be 8.3 million dollars for Bhutan.
