Navraj Dhakal, the executive director of the Alternative Energy Promotion Center, has said that since 2005, they have earned four billion 83 million from the sale of carbon. Speaking about the 'climate finance investment opportunities and the contribution of the center in the energy sector', he said that he has reduced carbon emissions equal to about 6.4 million units and has earned four billion 830 million from carbon sales.

The Center organized a 'National Seminar on Carbon Finance Investment Opportunities in Energy Projects' on the eve of 'Sagarmata Dialogue' to be held from May 16 to 18.

Article 6 of the Paris Agreement (Chapters 6.2 and 6.4) provides for a mitigation mechanism with a market-based approach, while Chapter 6.8 provides for a mitigation mechanism with a non-market approach  Dhakal, executive director of the center said. He said that compliance carbon trade and voluntary carbon trade arranged in Article 6 have great potential in Nepal.

Experts have pointed out that carbon finance should be emphasized to contribute to clean energy transformation through renewable energy and energy efficiency. This was said by the speakers participating in the technical session under the chairmanship of Sushilchandra Acharya, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. In the opening ceremony of the

conference, Energy Minister Khadka emphasized that the money from the sale of carbon should be mobilized for the benefit of the poor, economically weak and backward class citizens. He said that if meters with solar are installed for the poor, underprivileged and backward people in remote areas through the carbon fund, an environment of income will be created for the locals and this work will help the government's goal of enriching the poor citizens. Also, Minister Khadka said that there is a need for joint efforts in reducing carbon emissions.

Member of National Planning Commission  RP Wichha said that Nepal should work to get more benefits through carbon trading. He emphasized that Nepal should get more benefits by creating a structure for carbon sales so that everyone owns it. 

Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya said that the symposium will identify the needs, opportunities and challenges of carbon finance investment in energy projects, investable  Prioritization of carbon finance projects, investment possibilities and resource mobilization opportunities for clean energy transformation have been created. Regarding the current development partnership related to energy transformation and climate change in Nepal and investment selection in the future, he said that sharing the experience of successful projects and practices in the field, increasing potential investment, and helping in the exchange of good practices and knowledge in this field.
