Four foreign airlines flying from Thailand and the Middle East to Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa during the winter season will not fly there during the summer season.

Thai AirAsia flying from Bangkok, Jazeera Airways flying from Kuwait, Fly Dubai flying from Dubai and Qatar Airways flying from Doha will not fly to Bhairahawa during the summer season starting from 18 March 2081 to 8 October 2082. Apart from these, other foreign airlines also did not express their desire to fly to Bhairahawa during the summer season.

Nepal Civil Aviation Authority calls for two flight schedules for winter and summer to operate flights at airports across the country. This is an international rule. According to the air agreements with various countries, the slot management committee at Kathmandu Airport approves the schedule of domestic and international flights. According to this, the 11-member committee under the coordination of Kathmandu Airport General Manager Jagannath Niraula recommended to the authority for approval of the schedule for the summer season including Kathmandu, Bhairahawa and Pokhara.

The schedule recommended by the committee was approved by the authority a few days ago. "Foreign airlines will not fly to Bhairahawa during the summer season due to insufficient load (passengers/cargo)," said Gyanendra Bhul, co-spokesperson of the authority, "Qatar, Thai AirAsia, Fly Dubai and Jazeera flying there will fly to Kathmandu." It is two flights in the Kathmandu Airport on the summer, "said the categorial airplane last year. For November 23, Kathmandu Airport at 2's 10 It was closed for 14 hours from 8:00 am to 8:00 am. Priority was given to infrastructure expansion work for 10 hours at night. As the Kathmandu airport will be closed after 10 pm, the authority sent the flights of Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai, Thai Air Asia and Jazira, which operate four daily flights to Kathmandu, to Bhairahawa with conditions. "All these airlines have suffered losses of lakhs of rupees on every flight in Bhairahawa," said a senior official of the authority. Bhairahawa could not be operated even when the state brought packages with discounts.

Satellite-based RNP-AR system was implemented in Bhairahawa to make the ship land safely in low visibility due to frost and cold in winter. With this system, the international aircraft entering from Chitwan East can be landed within 900 meters if the minimum visibility is 2200 meters. However, foreign airlines were unable to adopt this system and canceled their flights due to lack of passengers.

The authority has approved the flight schedule of 30 airlines including Buddha Air, Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines Corporation of Nepal for the summer season. New flights of Indian Airlines SpiceJet, Air India Express and Thai AirAsia have been added to the new approved schedule. Spicejet has taken permission for Delhi-Kathmandu-Delhi daily, Air India Express Kolkata-Kathmandu-Bengaluru daily and Bengaluru-Kathmandu-Kolkata daily flight. Similarly, Thai AirAsia has also taken permission to fly daily Bangkok-Kathmandu-Bangkok.
