During the 8th month of the current financial year, around 64 million rupees worth of churpi have been exported through the Birganj channel. Compared to the same period in the last financial year, the export of churpi has increased by one and a half times.
According to the data of the Birganj Customs Office, during the period from July to mid-January of the current financial year, 369,668 kg of churpi worth 64 million rupees has been exported through this channel. During the same period last year, 29,348 kilos worth of 41 crore rupees were exported through this channel.
Comparatively speaking, in the current fiscal year, more than 230 million rupees and 140 thousand 320 kg more than 1 lakh 40 thousand 320 kg of churppi have been exported. From the customs point, this item is exported under the title of ``dog or cat food'' and not under the name of dog food.
Amit Tiwari, Information Officer of Birganj Customs Office, says that the export of Churpi through this checkpoint has increased comparatively this year. He said that the demand for Nepali Churpi is gradually increasing as pet dogs and cats are preferred in countries like America and Australia.
