The dispute between the authorities and the government has made it clear that there is not enough electricity in Nepal: President Karki

Ganesh Karki, Chairman of Independent Power Producers Association (IPPAN), said that Nepal does not have enough electricity. Speaking at an unorganized event in Kathmandu on Sunday, he said that even now, due to the dispute between the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and the Nepal Electricity Authority, it is clear that Nepal does not have enough electricity.

There are many debates these days. Despite all this, we are load shedding, or not? And we are discussing that India only provides electricity for the whole day. We are debating what the government and electricity authority say. What we need to understand is that we don't have enough electricity. With our electricity, we should really focus on production to run the industry, not only at home, but to be free from loadshedding," said President Karki.

He also said that they are moving forward in terms of producing 28,500 megawatts of electricity.  "Actually, we are moving towards 28,500. In order to complete that, we have written about 20 things and given them to the ministry. There should be a powerful Ministry of Energy. There should be a one-door system," he said.

President Karki said that hydropower is the key to making Nepal prosperous. He said that if the production of energy can be increased, the import of diesel and petrol can be reduced. He also said that more than 6.5 million Nepalis have invested in the energy sector.
