Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has stated that industrial production has decreased due to repeated declared and unannounced load shedding in the country's industrial sector. It has been said that the irregular and unannounced power cuts of up to 12 hours in various industrial areas across the country are seriously affecting the industrial production and business environment.
"Industries are facing a big problem due to load shedding," the statement states, "regular and sudden power interruptions are disrupting the continuous operation of industries and causing unexpected effects on the production process, due to which there has been a heavy decline in production." "Such disruptions are likely to affect the slight improvement seen in the country's economy and increase the risk of economic crisis in the long term," the statement said.
Federation has requested the government to take immediate necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted, reliable and regular power supply for the industrial sector. In order to speed up the industrialization of the country in the long term, the federation has stated that it is necessary to invest more in energy infrastructure, facilitate energy supply and strengthen continuous dialogue and cooperation with the private sector.
