The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has issued a public notice to form a committee for the asset valuation of Smart Telecom to register a letter of intent from interested chartered accountants.

Even though Smart's license was revoked in May 2080, the authority continued its asset management and evaluation process even after two years. Not done . The authority has repeatedly called for applications saying that experts who have the necessary qualifications have not been received.

The Regulatory Telecommunication Authority has not been able to form a valuation committee even after two years to assess the assets of Smart Telecom, which was automatically terminated after not paying billions of dues to the government and not even renewing its license. For the past two years, the Authority has been issuing notices for evaluating the property of Smart, sometimes looking for an appraiser, sometimes a chartered accountant, sometimes a telecommunication expert.

The authority has again requested the chartered accountants who have reached the relevant qualifications to participate as committee members. Individuals with at least 10 years of audit work experience after attaining the educational qualification of Chartered Accountancy can apply.

"This notification has been republished to register the sealed letter of intent within 7 days from those who have obtained the academic degree of chartered accountancy from a recognized educational institution and have the qualifications and experience to form the pricing committee," the authority said in the notification.

According to the notification, the interested parties have to submit certified documents with Nepali citizenship certificate, educational qualification and personal details. There is a provision for pricing committee in Rule 13 of the Property Management Regulations of Telecommunication Service Providers that do not have a valid license, 2079. By revising the regulations, the government mentioned that 'Nepal government will form a price determination committee in consultation with the authority', showing that the authority does not have full authority to form the committee. has been mentioning .

The authority had previously promised that the evaluation would be done through a private valuator saying that a qualified valuator had not been obtained.

Smart telecom tower owners, Smart recharge card businessmen and former employees of the company have been standing in front of the authority many times with their grievances.

While discussing with the victims who came to the dharna in the second week of February, Authority Chairman Bhupendra Bhandari said that forming an evaluation committee and moving the process forward is his main priority. He also claimed that this issue will be resolved soon. President Bhandari assured the group of people who came to surround the authority saying that they were in constant trouble after Smart Telecom was canceled and came under the control of the government.
