Locals have stopped the work of Nagdhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel which is in the final stage of construction. Residents of Chandragiri Municipality-2 have been obstructing the construction work since Sunday, demanding water and other supplies.

According to the project, work has stopped on both Kathmandu and Dhading. The construction of the project has not been able to accelerate due to the repeated obstructions of the locals. Locals have taken a stance that they will not work until their demands are met. A banner with a demand has also been hung in front of the mouth of the tunnel.

According to Sanjay Panthi, Senior Divisional Engineer of Nagadhunga-Tunnel Construction Project, the work has been stopped and efforts are being made to find a solution by discussing with the locals. Earlier on last February 18, the locals of Dhading had blocked the work.

If there is no problem in the construction, the project is ready to run vehicles through the Nagadhunga-Sisne river tunnel by October 2082. But the work has been interrupted many times .

86 percent of the construction of the tunnel, which was started on November 4, 2076, has been completed. The distance of the main tunnel is 2,688 meters and the emergency tunnel is 2,557 meters. At present, the work of lighting inside the tunnel, construction of concrete road and construction of flyover at Balambu's KCPD is in the final stage .
