Food Management and Trade Company Limited has prepared to establish food sales depots in all municipalities of Karnali. Now food will also purchase agricultural produce produced in all municipalities of Karnali. For this, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on food supply management has been made with 40 of Karnali's 79 municipalities.

In order to provide easy and regular food in remote areas, Food is going to establish buying and selling rooms in all municipalities. "It is expected to make the collection, inventory management, transportation, sale and marketing of local products effective," said Keshwaraj Budha, head of the Karnali regional office of the Food Management and Trade Company, "now the compulsion to walk for hours to the headquarters and depots to get rice will end."

Company has made a plan to purchase agricultural produce from every municipality after increasing the customer's interest in Raithani crop produced in Karnali. Since the financial year 2079/80, food had been purchasing Chino, Kaguno, Simi, Phapar and Uwa from Humla and Marsi rice from Jumla. Vijay Bhandari, President of Simkot Rural Municipality of Humla, said that farmers have also benefited since food started buying local products.

The municipality has also been adding some amount of subsidy to the farmers . Food buys rice from the municipality for 175 rupees per kg. According to Bhandari, the municipality has added 10 rupees and given 185 rupees to the farmers. A subsidy of Rs 40 per kg has been given to farmers in beans. Beans are sold to the municipality for 200 rupees to farmers, while food is paid for 160 rupees. He said that in other products, farmers are paid by increasing the amount by 10 to 40 rupees per kg than food.

Last year, food had bought 3 thousand 46 kg of sugarcane, 4 thousand 800 kg of kaguno, 1 thousand kg of beans, 2 thousand kg of millet and 100 kg of lice from Humla. Budha, the provincial head, said that since food is also sold at a cheaper rate than the market price, the attraction of customers has increased. In the market, Chino, Kaguno and Marsi rice at 300 rupees per kilogram are sold at 225 rupees, beans at 237 rupees at 250 rupees, beans at 95 rupees market price at 90 rupees, and lice at 100 rupees at 120 rupees.

Nagendra Bahadur Bista, Chairman of Narharinath Village of Kalikot, says that after the depot is established in the municipality, the bullying of contractors will be removed and the locals will get food whenever they need it. "We are trying to make the collection, inventory management, transportation, sale and marketing of food effective, in which the company will do the work of transportation and daily sales management," he said. Said . Earlier, the contractors used to sell food grains arbitrarily in the depots without employees . Food was not transported on time and the trend of taking food from one place to another place and selling it also increased.

Raithane said that the rural municipality will provide incentive subsidies and necessary training to farmers and producers for crop production. He said that once the food depot is established in the municipality, the school lunch program will also be effective.

The Karnali state government is also selling and distributing Raithane products in collaboration with food. Last year, the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives is going to set up its own mill after making an agreement with the Food Ministry, said Parashuram Rawat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. "Our plan is to ensure the market of 9 types of Raithane crops across the state by operating mills," he said, "We have tried to facilitate food in processing, packaging, grading and branding." According to the quality standards of the government, the food will be packaged and leveled, and the food will be distributed with the province's 'valuable' logo. The ministry has prepared to purchase 19,464 metric tons of Raithane crops this year.
