Contract agreement for construction of concrete bridge over Wantang river

A contract has been signed for the construction of a concrete bridge on the Wantang River located in Bhimad Municipality-5 of Tanahun under the reservoir area of the Tanahun hydropower project with a connected capacity of 140 MW under construction.

On Wednesday, a contract was signed with the least vocal construction company for the construction of a 130-meter long concrete bridge on the Wantang River, which is inundated due to the project's reservoir under the Bhimad-Rishing road. Kiran Kumar Shrestha, managing director of Tanahun Hydropower, informed that a contract has been signed with Sapna Nirman Seva Pvt Ltd for 237 million rupees including value added tax to design and build the bridge by the builders themselves. On behalf of the promoter of the

project, Tanahun Hydropower Ltd., Managing Director Kiran Kumar Shrestha and Managing Director Hari Prasad Dhakal on behalf of Sapna Nirman Seva have signed the contract. The manager of Hydropower Shrestha informed that the contract has been signed to complete the construction of the bridge within 30 months. According to the procurement guidelines of the development partner of the

project, the Asian Development Bank, a tender was called on 14 June 2081 to select a construction contractor for the construction of the bridge. In the evaluation of the technical bids, all the 5 companies were basically influenced by the submission of proposals from five construction companies.

Then financial bids were opened . After the evaluation of the financial bids, it is said that the contract agreement was signed after accepting the bid of the minimum evaluated and effective dream construction service.

Wantang is a tributary of Seti River . Due to the reservoir created by the 140-meter high dam that will be built on the border of Beas Municipality-5 and Rishing Rural Municipality-1 by the project, the Wantang River in the upper coastal area will also fall into the Duwan . The managing director of the company, Shrestha, said that since the movement of the residents of that area will be obstructed due to the reservoir, which will be formed at the maximum level up to 415 meters above the sea level, a concrete bridge is going to be constructed to facilitate the movement.

The road from Bhimad Bazar to Rischingpatan has become black. As there is no bridge in the middle, the movement of that part has been affected mainly during the rainy season . Currently, the project has constructed a temporary culvert to ease the traffic through the Wantang River during the rainy season. The residents of that area have benefited from this. Under the social development program of the

project, 68 projects have been completed so far in the project-affected wards of Beas and Bhimad Municipalities and Rishing, Myagde and Bandipur Rural Municipality. 6 schemes are operational .

Under the Livelihood Restoration Plan, the project has been conducting various trainings such as beekeeping, goat rearing, financial literacy, commercial vegetable farming, and electricians to increase the income of the affected people.
