Cars that look like Teslas are now seen driving on American roads with the logos of Toyota, Audi, Mazda and other brands. In particular, even though the vehicle is a Tesla, some Tesla-owners have become accustomed to pasting other brands' logos on top of their vehicle logos.

Tesla  As the number of people who disagree with CEO Elon Musk's political and social views is increasing, people who make Tesla cars look like Toyota, Audi, Mazda and other brands, sell Tesla and buy another car or openly call for a boycott have been published by Forbes, Rolling Stone and other media.

'Rolling Stones' magazine mentioned that Musk's politics could be the beginning of Tesla's downfall.  After being active in politics, Musk gave one controversial statement after another, Americans who have purchased Teslas have started to 'rebrand' their Teslas.

Tesla, which was once the undisputed leader in the electric vehicle industry, is now facing serious challenges and competition in the European and other markets while facing such protests in America. It seems that the stock market also does not like Musk's politics. Since January 2024, Tesla's stock seems to have been continuously volatile. Even if it sometimes goes up in between, since then the company's shares have fallen by about 44 percent.

Many users in America and Europe who are dissatisfied with Musk's political views and behavior have started to distance themselves from Tesla and other companies in which Musk is openly involved, according to Forbes news. Some have creatively removed the Tesla logo and made it look like other vehicles, pasting stickers. A person who bought a Tesla Model 3 has given a completely new look by adding the Audi A5 badge to his car.

The sticker that says 'I bought this car before Elon Musk took over' seems to be very popular among Tesla owners. This also shows that car owners are trying to distance themselves from Musk. Not only ordinary users but also celebrities have started to decide to distance themselves from Musk.

Famous American singer Sheryl Crow has recently announced that she will sell her Tesla and donate the proceeds to National Public Radio. 'Now it's time to decide who to support, bye-bye, Tesla,' Sherrell said in a video posted on social media.

CNN's well-known journalist Alisin Kmerota has also sold her Tesla, while famous Hollywood celebrities such as Mark Ruffalo and Leonardo DiCaprio have also decided to stay away from Tesla, according to the media. In the same way, well-known celebrities in Europe such as Emma Watson, David Attenberg, Greta Thunberg and others have publicly criticized Musk and Tesla and announced that they will stay away from it.

According to a survey conducted among Tesla Model-3 owners, 21 percent out of 5,000 said that 'not liking Elon Musk' was the main reason for selling the car. 17.8 percent of them mentioned that 'dissatisfaction with Tesla's brand image is the main reason for selling. Many consumers involved in various surveys have responded that they feel that Tesla's reputation is deteriorating due to Musk's political activities, controversial views and the current state of the company.

According to Newsweek, out of 1,000 people who participated in a survey conducted in the Netherlands, 590 people said that because of Musk, they stopped liking Tesla and would rather buy Chinese brands. Likewise, 40 percent of the 40 percent involved in another survey conducted among 26,000 people said that Tesla is not their priority because of Musk.

In January 2025, Tesla's sales in Europe have decreased by 45 percent. While the overall electric vehicle market saw a 37 percent increase, Tesla's sales declined. This decline is said to be due to increased competition and Musk's political activities. In Germany, Tesla's sales fell by 59.5 percent, while in France, a bigger decline reached 63 percent.

After Musk expressed his support for Germany's right-wing party AfD, Tesla's brand image seems to have had a deeper impact. Tesla has reached such a weak state that in January 2025, even the Chinese car manufacturer SAIC Motors has sold twice as many cars as Tesla.

According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, Tesla could only sell 9,945 units in January. In the same period of the previous year, this number was 1,161. While the overall electric vehicle market is growing by 37 percent, it is mentioned in the Forbes report that the trust in the brand has decreased due to such a weak performance of Tesla and it is clear that Musk is the main reason.
