Florists are going to organize a flower fair in Kathmandu. It has been informed that there will be 82 stalls in the fair which will be held from Chait 1 to 4 at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.
"Floriculture Association Nepal" is going to organize a flower fair. A flower fair is going to be held with the slogan 'Flower Business for Clean Environment and Economic Prosperity - 26th Flora Expo'. According to Ram Bahadur Tamang, senior vice president of
association and fair coordinator, there will be a competition between the best stalls and the best seasonal flowers in the fair. Cash and various prizes will be awarded to the first and best businessmen. Rajesh Bhakta Shrestha, president of
association, said about the purpose of organizing the fair, 'Flower exhibition is organized for the development and growth of flower business. It will also help in the development of the country.' Stating that quality flowers and floral materials have always been kept in the fair, he said that there will be no reduction in quality in the future. It is said that flowers and plants produced by
florists will also be exhibited. According to the organizer of the fair, the fair will help to expand the market, sell products, increase direct contact and coordination between flower traders and flower consumers, publicize the new products developed in the world market by promoting flowers and floral products produced by entrepreneurs, businessmen and companies at the national level. In the
fair, various types of seasonal flowers, flowering and non-flowering, cut flowers, dried flowers, goldfish, compost fertilizer, flower beds, seedbeds, greenhouses, agricultural tools, equipment, packaging materials, drip irrigation techniques, modern flower cultivation techniques, biological pesticides, various types of pots, floral decoration materials will be displayed and sold. In the
fair, 600 types of figurative plants, 500 types of flowers and fruit plants, 300 types of ceramic and plastic pots, 200 types of materials required for Kousi cultivation will be displayed in the floral exhibition. Flower nurseries, flower firms, flower and floral supplier companies, businessmen and various associations will participate in the
fair. According to
organizers, flower business is gaining momentum in Nepal. Floriculture Association was established in 2049. According to the association, there were only about 80 nurseries at that time. After that, the commercial development, expansion and promotion of flower farming was accelerated.
With the development and expansion of urbanization, the association has informed that the flower business is increasing commercially in the main cities of all the seven provinces. Every year, the annual growth rate of flower business has been around 10 to 15 percent. At present, flower business is being done in 52 districts in an area of about 260 hectares,' the association said.
At present, there are about 530 nurseries, 90 cut flower producers, 158 flower wholesalers, 625 input suppliers and 365 loose flower production in Nepal, according to the association. According to the association, more than 51,500 human resources have been employed directly and indirectly in the flower business.
In the financial year 2075/76, the turnover of flower business was 2 billion 42 crores, but in the financial year 077/78 it was 1 billion 63 crores due to covid . In the financial year 2080/81 compared to the past, the flower business has increased by 19.86 percent and the turnover of the flower business has reached three billion 68 million, the association has informed. According to the association, when flowers worth crores are imported from different countries in Nepal, they are exported in a small amount.
