Excavation of 283 MW Upper Tamor project will be done by TBM machine

Excavation of the 283 MW Upper Tamor Hydropower Project, the largest 285 MW Upper Tamor Hydroelectric Project in Paktanglung Rural Municipality, under construction by private sector investment, will be done with TBM machine. This decision was made by the all-party, all-party meeting held under the coordination of Paktanglung Rural Municipality. Political party representatives, former public representatives and others participated in the discussion.

According to Rajan Limbu, chairman of the rural municipality, in the first point, it has been decided to measure the water source in the months of March and April and submit a report to the ward office and the rural municipality, and if the amount of water is low, it has been decided to manage the water supply and irrigation except for lack of rain. This is a decision regarding water supply and irrigation.

The second point is related to compensation from the project. As the tunnel excavation of the project will be done using TBM machines, blasting will be reduced and since all the houses and lands in the area to be blasted have been purchased, the possibility of damage to the settlement will be less. However, it has been decided that the project will provide compensation if the houses are cracked or damaged due to the effect of blasting.

The third point is related to employment. It mentions that employment will be provided based on the project's policy, rules, standards and the recommendation of the local government and the ward based on the qualifications, abilities, skills and efficiency of the project in order to raise the standard of living of the local people.

The fourth point is related to consumption of local agricultural produce. In this, it is mentioned that if the farmers are able to supply the agricultural products to the project in the long term, the project will consume the local products as the first priority.

In the fifth point, it is mentioned that we will move forward by protecting the religious and cultural heritages in the project area. In the sixth point, it is mentioned that the Sinwama Committee of Paktanglung Rural Municipality-3 Linkhim will be formed on the 2nd of Chait, and in the seventh and last point, the decision made by the committee to be formed on the 2nd of Chait, if the project is implemented, it has been decided to move forward with cooperation and coordination in the entire work.

The locals were obstructing the work of this project. Locals have been raising noises about irrigation, drinking water, houses cracking during the construction of the project and that this area is the hub of the Limbu community.
