The work of placing the transmission line monopole on the road section from Yogikuti Chowk to Horizon Chowk of Kalikapath located in Butwal sub-metropolitan city-11 is going on in full swing.
The tower (with four legs) of the 132 KV double circuit transmission line from Butwal to Motipur is going to be removed and a monopole (only one leg) is going to be placed on the Yogikuti-Horizon Chowk road section.
The foundation of the monopole is being constructed by removing the four towers in the middle of a one kilometer road section. Foundation work will be completed within 15 days. Monopole has been supplied to the construction site.
Two monopoles of 30/30 meters and two monopoles of 32/32 meters will be installed on that road section. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, the transmission line in operation will be closed (shutdown) for about 15 days and the monopole will be installed. The old tower in that section will be removed. Wire (conductor) will also be used in a new way, according to the authority.
Kulman Ghising, executive director of the authority, requested to monitor the construction site and install the monopole before the start of summer. Ghisingh directed the Butwal Grid Division to complete the work before the start of summer as the demand for electricity will increase in the Butwal area as it will be a problem to shut down the transmission line.
A monopole is going to be placed on the Yogikuti-Horizon Chowk road section to end the accidents that may occur when a large vehicle touches the line during the work between the road and the transmission line (wire). At present the distance between the road and the line is less than 6 meters. After the manopole is placed, the distance between the road and the line will be about nine meters. The road section is narrow as the transmission line tower is currently in the middle. The diameter of the basement of the current tower is about 8 meters. The diameter of the basement of the monopole will be only about two and a half meters. Due to this, the road will also be widened and the right of way of the current transmission line will be reduced after the monopole is placed, so the houses on the right and left will also be safer.
A contract was signed for the construction of Monopole for 36.5 million rupees. The goal is to complete the entire work of Monopole, which is being built with the investment of the authority, by the next May.
