Operation of paper industry with IME Group's 2 billion investment

Nepal Pulp and Paper Industries established in Gaushala Municipality-1, Ramnagar of Mahottari with the investment of IME Group has come into operation. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the industry by unveiling the copper sheet on Thursday.

According to IME Group, there is an investment of 2 billion rupees in the industry. The industry will produce 75 metric tons of paper per day for writing and printing. In the first phase, the production of photocopy paper and paper used for copy-books has started. According to IME Group, the production of photocopy paper and other papers, which are in high demand in educational, administrative and many other fields, will meet the demand of the domestic market.  With the operation of

industry, it is said that new paper can be produced in Nepal from used paper. Due to this, the group mentioned that there will be a decrease in paper imports. According to the company, the door will be opened for the use of indigenous products, including Janak Shiksha Material Kendra, which is printing school textbooks. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of IME Group informed that the

industry has directly created employment opportunities for more than 300 and indirectly for thousands. He said that the industry has given opportunities to more than 50 percent of locals and women.  In the

program, Prime Minister Oli said that there is no alternative but to lead the country on the path of self-sufficiency, and priority will be given to industrial development and job creation. He said that the provincial government should also move forward for this. Stating that the government is clear that prosperity will not be achieved without the efforts of the private sector, Oli opined that by establishing a paper industry, ordinary people will learn skills and jobs will be created. "We believe that this industry will contribute to the opportunity to use our own paper within the country and balance the trade deficit and help to make it independent," he said.  In the

program, Dhakal, who is also the president of Federation of Nepal Industry and Commerce, said that for many years, Nepal has been depending on imports for paper and paper products, and that situation will no longer be there. He said that the establishment of industry was taken as a renaissance in Nepal's industrial journey. He asked to take the new industry operation as a commitment to the country's self-reliance, economic growth and sustainable industrial development.

'Industries will be closed, investors will flee and young people will have to go to work in Khadi. To reduce it, the entry of IME Group into such manufacturing industries will prove to be an important step to create new industries, replace imports and create an industrial development renaissance,' said Dhakal.

He mentioned that he believed that some of the laws brought by the government in recent times to create an investment-friendly environment in Nepal would be helpful. Dhakal also said that the government has started to listen to the suggestions of the private sector in creating the necessary policies and laws for the improvement and development of the country's economy and the private sector has realized that they are working in mutual coordination.
