Air China flight from Chhendu was diverted to Gautam Budh International Airport in Bhairawa after it failed to land at Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday afternoon due to adverse weather conditions for landing.
Jagannath Niraula, General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport said that this is the first incident where an international flight could not land in Kathmandu due to bad weather and reached Bhairahawa.

This is the first time," General Manager Niraula told Kantipur. According to him, the Qatar Airways flight from Doha was diverted to Dhaka, Bangladesh due to wind speed and adverse weather conditions.
Similarly, Indigo from Delhi returned to Delhi. Air Arabia from the Middle East had returned to Banaras, India.
Malindo from Malaysia had reached Kolkata. Bhairahawa International Airport has come into operation in May 2079. Co-spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority, Gyanendra Bhul said that after the airport came into operation, an international airline's flight diverted from Kathmandu landed there for the first time.
When foreign aircraft are diverted to Bhairahawa, the airport earns extra income . Currently Fly Dubai, Jazeera, Thai Air Asia and Nepal Airlines Corporation have received permission for international flights at Gautam Buddha International Airport.
