Solar in 450 households without electricity in Gorkha

Solar has been installed in 460 households in Chumanubri and Dharche Rural Municipality of North Gorkha, where the central electricity transmission line does not reach. The solar connection work started in 2076 under the domestic solar energy technology connection work through the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division office has just reached its final stage.

Milan Poudel, Head of Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division, said that solar has been installed in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-3 and 6 and Dharche Rural Municipality-3, 4, 5, 6, 7. He said that 230 households in Dharche and 230 households in Chumanubri have been selected for solar installation. "After the completion of the solar connection work, the monitoring test work has also been completed by showing the technician from the renewable energy testing center," he said. In October 2076, an agreement was reached between the

office and Suryaroshani Industrial Pvt. But after almost five years, the work of connecting solar energy technology has reached its final stage. "After the agreement, when Corona started, there was some delay in the work," Poudel said, "Even after the connection, we started to change some of the solar batteries after problems were found. Due to the geographical complexity, the work could not be completed within the agreement period."

According to Gandaki province's domestic solar energy technology connection procedure 2075, solar has been installed in the households chosen by the local municipality, he said. For solar connection, there is a provision that 75 percent of the government and 25 percent of the respective households should be borne. "Households that do not have access to the central transmission line and have no option for light have been selected and installed with solar," he said, adding that the necessary materials and batteries for solar have been made available.

Solar has been installed with a budget of 79 lakh 47 thousand. With the aim of ensuring access to electricity through alternative energy to the citizens of Gandaki province who do not have access to electricity, solar connection was started by selecting remote areas of North Gorkha. In Gandaki's domestic solar energy technology installation procedure, it is mentioned that priority will be given to remote areas where the central transmission line does not have electricity to support the declaration of bright province.  According to

procedure, the location and number of beneficiaries have been selected for solar energy technology connection based on demand and priority, Poudel said. He also said that the program has been implemented according to the policy of purchasing and installing domestic solar power systems with a peak capacity of 20 to 50 watts.
