Thousands of plants planted for research in Dhitachaur Botanical Garden located in Guthichour rural municipality-5 of Jumla have dried up due to drought.

In the garden established in 2056, more than 10,000 plants of more than 100 species are being researched. Now, even if it is carrying water, it has been put on the plants.

Chowkidar Mitanand Neupane says that the herbs that have persisted for a long time cannot be saved . Now is the time to plant herbs and irrigate. At this time, there is no water,' he said, 'it is difficult to reach these plants with the water brought.' But due to lack of irrigation, they have started to dry up . As a result, research has also been affected. The garden has been recommending successful plants to the farmers.

Eight local level farmers of the district have taken the plants that are being researched here. Mitananda said, "Water sources are drying up". The sky has not even rained. It is difficult to save plants without getting enough water.

He has been working as a watchman since 2048 when the plant office was temporarily established. He had not experienced a drought yet . ``Winter rain would have been a relief . But this year there is no winter rain. There is no source of water that can be brought from nearby,' he said, 'When the plants we planted are drying up one after the other, we are heartbroken.'

6 watchmen have been appointed for the protection and maintenance of the plants planted in the garden. There are also two ponds inside the park to save vegetation. But there is no water in the pool . The source of water brought from a place called Kanikot an hour away has dried up.

Raju Dhital, another watchman, said, "It is difficult to fetch water from the spring". A trickle reaching the pond is not enough to irrigate . If it doesn't rain on time, it is difficult to save the plants.

Farmers are gathered in the garden spread over 4 and a half hectares, and plant protection trainings are provided. The message about the importance of plants is spread. But now the plants of valuable herbs are drying up due to lack of irrigation.

Farmers have taken the plants from here to Humla, Mugu, Kalikot and Dolpa in Karnali, including Jumla. Herbs such as Jatamsi, Panchaule, Atis, Sugandhwal, Sumayo, Dhupajdi, Mentha, Pashan Veda and others have been planted in the garden. Plants that are about to disappear in Patan can be seen here.

Domestic and foreign tourists have also come to Dhitacheur for botanical studies. But now the same botanical garden is drying up due to lack of irrigation .

Now people keep asking to see and bring the plants . Seeing the dried plants, they return with disgust.

Khadk Bahadur Rokaya of Sinja said that he felt sad when he saw the plants drying up due to the drought. He said, "Even if it is lifted from the Tila river, the water for irrigation should be delivered to the park."
