Banks and financial institutions are allowed to keep foreign currency (non-deliverable forward) up to 20 percent of primary capital. The provision was made through the semi-annual review of the monetary policy issued by the National Bank on Tuesday. Previously, there was a provision to keep foreign currency up to 15 percent of primary capital.

"In the case of non-deliverable forwards, the existing limit of 15 percent of primary capital will be increased and maintained at 20 percent," said the review of monetary policy.
