Import of shoes by paying the customs of suitcases: Case against three people for evading revenue of Rs. 110 crores

A case has been filed against three persons in Patan High Court with the demand of revenue fraud of around 115 crores on the charge of importing suitcases and shoes through Rasuwa Customs.

The Revenue Investigation Department had been conducting an investigation for three months after it was discovered that a cargo had passed inspection and was being smuggled in by placing the goods in another container. Based on the investigation, a case of revenue leakage has been filed. 

Last November 4, 3 thousand 372 Jor branded shoes were found in container No. 3 B 701, which was coming to Kathmandu after passing the suitcase and silk check at Rasuwa Customs. Shoes were imported without paying revenue. 

In the name of Bamjan Enterprises, it was found that the suitcases and shoes were kept in Rasuwa. During the investigation, it was found that Sirak No. 6 Kha 4894 was kept in the sealed container No. 701.

Similarly, in the same container, it was found that the suitcase that passed the inspection was placed in the container numbered 6 b 1000 . Both the containers are still in the hands of Rasuwa Customs. The owner of the said enterprises, Sindhupalchok Lisankhupakhar Rural Municipality-6, was investigated after taking control of the container along with Buddha Lama. The

department has filed a case of revenue leakage against Buddha, Kumar Shrestha of Gulmi Ruru rural municipality-5 and customs agent Naul Bahadur Tamang, who help smuggle shoes. It has been demanded to collect 28 million 66 thousand 759 bigos and 50 million 61 million 33 thousand 518 rupees from Buddha. 

It has been demanded to recover 1 crore 25 lakh 67 thousand 934 rupees and 2 crore 51 lakh 35 thousand 868 rupees as well as 100 percent penalty from Shrestha for helping import of shoes. Similarly, agent Naul Bahadu has also been accused of helping in smuggling. 

According to the details issued by Krishna Kumari Shrestha, Deputy Director General of the Revenue Investigation Department, a total of 108.4 million 674 million revenue has been demanded from all the defendants, including fines and fines. The demand to confiscate the shoes and containers and auction them has been submitted to the court.

Lama had paid about 8 lakh customs by declaring the suitcase and Sirak in the declaration in the name of the firm in his own name . The customs staff also mentioned that the goods mentioned in the notification had passed the inspection . According to the customs records, 210 suitcases of 20, 24 and 28 inches and 250 bags of silk were imported.
