The foundation stone of Rara Resort to be built by Expert Group and Rara Holdings has been laid at Chayanath Rara Municipality-9 Murmattop in Mugu. Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri laid the foundation stone of the resort through digital media from Kathmandu on Wednesday.
At the third investment conference held last May, an agreement was reached between Australia's Expert Group and Rara Holdings Resort to build a luxury resort in Murmatup. 1 billion 50 million rupees will be invested in the resort to be built on 80 ropani. The resort, which aims to be built within two years, will be built using local resources and reflecting the local culture.
According to the current design, the resort will have 60 rooms, one suite, 4 deluxe and the remaining 35 standard rooms. It is planned to prepare 40 rooms and 12 villas in the first phase. The resort will have 100 capacity restaurant, spa, helipad and other facilities. The distance from Rara Lake to Murmatap i.e. Resort is 2 km. Laying the foundation stone of
resort, Minister Thakuri said that the government is committed to protect private sector investment. He said that the government is planning to encourage private sector and protect investment. He also promised that Talcha airport will be improved to promote tourism in Rara region.
'In the construction of infrastructure, local resources are getting more priority, so the resort being built will be environment-friendly,' he said, 'We are planning to pitch for easy access to Rara next year in collaboration with the three levels of government.'
