Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka and India's Water Power Minister CR Patil have discussed about advancing the Pancheswar multi-purpose project. Energy Minister Khadka, who reached India's New Delhi to participate in the 'India Energy Week-2025', met with his Indian counterpart Patil on Thursday.

Prabbal Adhikari, a senior energy expert of the Ministry of Power, who participated in the meeting, said that it was agreed to finalize the detailed study report (DPR) of the Pancheswar Multipurpose Project soon and proceed with the project.

The construction of the link canal from Tanakpur to the Nepal-India border has been completed, but after finalizing the water management procedure, it has been agreed to release the water according to the Mahakali Treaty. It has been agreed that the 14th meeting of the Joint Committee for Flood and Inundation Management will be held from March 22 to 24 and formal correspondence will be sent from the Ministry.

It has been agreed to continue the discussion through bilateral meetings regarding the DPR of the Saptakoshi multi-purpose project . Energy Minister Khadka recalled that the meeting and discussion held on November 5th provided more encouragement to move forward with the important work in the field of water resources in cooperation between the two countries . In the

meeting, India's Water Power Minister Patil said that the Indian government is positive to finalize the DPR of the Pancheshwar project and move the project forward as soon as possible.
