A meeting was held between the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka and the Minister of Electricity of India Manoharlal Khattar. Minister Khadka, who reached India's New Delhi to participate in 'India Energy Week-2025', met with his Indian counterpart Khattar on Tuesday.
Energy Minister Khadka thanked the Indian government for India's support in exporting electricity to Bangladesh through the Indian transmission line from Nepal on November 15 last year. Minister Khadka said that Nepal was not able to provide electricity from the Indian Power Exchange during the 'Pick Hour' (from 6 pm to 10 pm) of dry season and demanded that 24-hour electricity availability be approved.
Currently, India is providing 1000 megawatts of electricity to Nepal, but it has not provided it during pick-up hours. Energy Minister Khadka drew attention to approve the Tamakoshi hydropower project built with Nepal's own investment for electricity export. Although Energy Minister Khadka had invited Indian Electricity Minister Khattar to visit Nepal during his previous visit to India, it was discussed in Tuesday's meeting that he would visit Nepal in the last week of February. In the
meeting, India's Minister of Electricity Khattar said that India always has support and cooperation in the development of Nepal's energy sector. India's Electricity Minister Khattar asked for the necessary facilitation of projects being built by Indian companies in Nepal.
